New Temps in the Air; cabin air that is…

Coming upon 14 wonderful years together with today marking our 10th wedding anniversary, we followed tradition when choosing an anniversary gift. Over the years we have no longer purchased individual gifts for each other, but rather have picked out something together that follows the traditional gift suggestion list and not the modern list. According to [...]

A Weekend of The Force.

The weather was calling to be ugly and our friends Conrad and Roxanne with the Catfisher 32 hauled their boat, so we decided to hang around the dock, stop by the boatyard from time to time to make sure the Cooper’s were still hard at it and sail The Force all weekend. Blake kicked off [...]

March 19-20, 2011

Every weekend is better than the last! Saturday morning started foggy… …but it quickly cleared up over the bay; though it still lingered inland. Video of Monomoy sailing through the water. The Portofino boat was out with tourists covered in oil (tanning oil that is). Blake. We sailed out into the Gulf for a bit. [...]

Perfect Weekend! 03/12-03/13

This past weekend was the best we’ve seen so far and hope it is a sign of gorgeous sailing weather to come this year. We stayed on the boat at the marina Friday evening after splashing her earlier in the day. We awoke to a beautiful sunrise Saturday morning. The sky was clear and wind [...]

Splash 2011

This morning Monomoy entered the water at about 8:30am CST. We are quite happy to have her back in the water and are looking forward to some gorgeous sailing weather this weekend! Here is the view off the bow while still up in the air. Backing away from the sling. Heading under the Bayou Chico [...]

Monomoy’s Haulout – Day 4

I think this picture pretty much sums it up! Ben spent today putting the final touches on the paint and DA’d the hull with a polish to bring out a mirror finish. Monomoy’s all done and will spend overnight letting the paint dry for the manufacturer’s specified time. The Gemini isn’t quite complete and have [...]

Monomoy’s Haulout – Day 3

Not much action today and no photos. Ben did manage to get a coat of paint on this morning before the bottom fell out of the sky for the entire day. He also picked up our prop from Accu-Prop on Pace Blvd, where they did a fantastic job of polishing and balancing it. The blocks [...]

Monomoy’s Haulout – Day 2

Today started the painting. It’s funny/crazy to think about. A lot of effort and expense goes into hauling a boat, blocking, prepping the bottom, and the actual painting. All of this expense and effort is to apply a product (paint) that is designed specifically to wear off. Without the special bottom paint though would allow [...]
