Well, the intention was to do the BEER Cruise, but we didn’t exactly follow that plan due to the number of friends/family who wanted to join. I’m not the type of person to tell anyone that they can’t come along, so we came up with a compromise and that was to do our own cruise over to Ft. McRee and meet the friends/family who arrived on their stinkpots (powerboats). We still had the opportunity to sail alongside some of the BEER cruisers and I look forward to participating in the cruise itself next year. Here is a link to photos of the BEER group: http://photobucket.com/BEER2008

Here are some photos from the weekend, which we still had a fantastic time.

We spent nearly the entire day out on the water and enjoyed watching many other boats sailing around as well. We cruised over to Sailboat Cove, but didn’t drop the hook and just spun around heading toward Bob Sykes Bridge (bridge to P’cola Beach), before changing heading again and making way for home port.

Went over in the morning to clean the boat from the day before, but it turned out to be such a nice day that we decided to shove off for a few hours of sailing. We wished we had our camera with us, cause it was a clear day and quite a few sailboats made it out to enjoy the bay. The wind was around 10 knots and the sea was near perfect. I hope next weekend is a repeat.

All day long the wind was perfect and sea cooperative. We didn’t take any pictures of this day’s trip.

We were surprised that at any given time we only counted 2-3 other sailboats out and only a few boats (including stink pots) on the bay altogether. Perhaps many people we traveling out of town for the weekend, but I was have suspected many more vessels out on such a nice day.

Had a great sail today. Wind started off around 6 knots in the morning and we shoved off at about 10:30am CST. We sailed for a couple of hours and threw out the hook over at Quietwater. We had hoped to tie up to the dock, but it was a busy Saturday, so we settled for tossing the hook and grilling on the boat for lunch; grilled chicken on a boat seems to have an extra good flavor to it.

After lunch we pulled up the anchor and headed back out. The wind picked up and was about 9-10 knots, so it made for some good sailing. We arrived back to our slip around 5pm CST and hung out on the boat for another 1.5-2 hours before heading home.

We ended up going over to the Oar House for dinner, before heading back over to the boat for a night sail. My brother also joined us for the night sail. Two sails in the same day, although only a couple of hours each, was fantastic!

Went out for an afternoon sail today and it was great. Temp was around 75 degrees and wind was around 15 knots. We just unfurled the Genoa today and leisurely cruised at about 7 knots. There were a couple of other sailing vessels out there enjoying the day as well.

After our sail, we headed back in and grilled burgers on the back of the boat while chatting with the marina neighbors. It was a good day!
